The NBEF College & Young Professional Network Summer Event held on a Friday night (August 11th) at New Brunswick High School was a huge success.

This gathering got underway with networking and a dynamic workshop entitled “Build Confidence … Work the Room,” led by Professor Lenny Williams from the Trill or Not Trill Leadership Institute. Professor Williams shared strategies to elevate confidence that will be impactful in all professional spaces.

The event also featured keynote speaker, Joaquin Zihuatanejo, who came in all the way from East Dallas, Texas. He delivered a motivational message themed, “From Barrio Boy to World Champion.” Joaquin is the Poet Laureate of Texas and Poetry Slam World Champion who inspired the audience (“real talk”) with his relatable life story and poetry.

This conference style event was attended by over 140 high school seniors, college and grad school students and young professionals (all from New Brunswick). The evening also included a live DJ, food, and raffle prizes. Shot to the Summer Event’s Planning Team for helping to make it happen!!!
