NBEF’s Career Cluster Leadership Program entails New Brunswick High School (NBHS) and New Brunswick Health Sciences Technology High School (NBHSTHS) alumni who serve as guest speakers, workshop facilitators and panelists to provide tips/pointers, resources, and even contacts for students in NBEF’s Network pursuing careers in STEM, Nursing, Business and Communications, and Social Work and Psychology.

A Nursing Cluster was held on Saturday, November 11th from 11:00 am-12:30 pm. It was led by a panel of NBHSTHS alum and members of NBEF Network who are nursing professionals including Franchesca Mendoza, RN (Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital), Ashley Lopez, RN (Saint Peters University Hospital) and Michelle Palma (Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital).

The conversation of the panelists focused on their personal backgrounds, navigating college, transitioning to the nursing field, and patient safety and self-advocacy. A major emphasis was placed on study skills, note taking, self-care and mentorship. Ultimately selecting your field of interest in nursing, having the discipline for continuous learning, and demonstrating confidence is key to success!!!

This is a premier program of NBEF’s Network. It gives accomplished alumni from NBHS and NBHSTHS a chance to “give back” and sets the stage for a pipeline of achievement for current college and high school students who are aspiring various fields. These accomplished members of our Network are most relatable (having come from the same community and high schools) and exudes “if I can do it … I know you can and will succeed.”
