  • NBEF partnered with Bristol-Myers Squibb, Karma Foundation, MagyarBank Charitable Foundation and New Brunswick High School alumni to contribute funding toward the re-establishment of a music education program by the New Brunswick Public School District, after a 20-year absence.
  • Through a strategic alliance with Bristol-Myers Squibb, NBEF developed and launched “Genetics Enrichment: Exploring Genetic Disorders.” The program involved 300 middle school students, introducing them to the world of genetics and genetic disorders. It culminated with a group of students presenting their research projects to a panel of scientists at Bristol-Myers Squibb (New Brunswick). 
  • NBEF funded a Solar Energy Program that engaged over 500 fifth graders. This initiative addressed a key curriculum area with an aim to generate students’ interest in various aspects of science and technology.
  • NBEF’s Innovative Teacher Grants for Excellence Program has provided over $75,000 to New Brunswick Public School teachers to implement 100+ innovative projects and activities both inside and outside their classrooms. The program has impacted more than 3,000 students annually ranging from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th  grade.
  • With funding support from Bristol-Myers Squibb, NBEF collaborates with the New Brunswick Middle School to implement a comprehensive Robotics Program that engages 6th through 8th grade students in hands-on and inquiry-based experiences using the latest generation of LEGO Mindstorms Robots. This innovative activity is administered year-round with student participants (1) utilizing LEGO element motors and sensors to build robots; (2) programming computers to prompt the robot’s movement, reaction and sound; (3) competing in First LEGO League (FLL) Regional Qualifying Events held each year in November; and (4) serving as peer leaders by taking their robotics demonstrations into the district’s elementary schools and mentoring younger children. NBEF recently expanded the program to include New Brunswick High School and New Brunswick Health Sciences Technology High School students (9th through 12th graders), who are competing at the First Tech Level.
  • NBEF has awarded $606,700 in college scholarships to New Brunswick High School and New Brunswick Health Sciences Technology High School graduates. Some of the schools the scholarship recipients have attended include: Rutgers University, Columbia University, Princeton University, John Hopkins University, Tuskegee University, The College of New Jersey, North Carolina A&T State University, and Seton Hall University, just to name a few. Moreover, many of them are now in graduate schools and doctoral programs as well as excelling in business, engineering, healthcare, education, social work, broadcast journalism and other careers. 
  • NBEF stays connected with the scholarship recipients through our College & Young Professional Network component. This special initiative facilitates seminars, workshops and special events for high school seniors, college students and young professionals from New Brunswick that focus on academic excellence and career development. Moreover, the program has enhanced NBEF’s capacity to track the students’ progress and be active in their college and career pursuits. We began the program in 2011 with 15 students and now provide services and resources for over 300 New Brunswick youth including: Career Chat & Chews, Resume & Cover Letter Writing Assistance, 90-Second Elevator Speech and Mock Interview Training, Dining Etiquette Sessions, Financial Literacy Forums, etc.
  • NBEF partnered with Johnson & Johnson and Rutgers University to administer funding for “Nurture thru Nature” (NtN), a special program that engages New Brunswick Public School students 4th through 6th graders in classroom and hands-on science experiences developed to increase their knowledge and understanding of the natural world; and facilitates a setting for them to apply their language arts and math skills while experimenting with natural and environmental science issues.
  • NBEF also partners with Johnson & Johnson and the New Brunswick Public School District in the funding and implementing professional development, curriculum writing and assessments in transitioning to Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The NGSS focuses on improving science education (K-12) through Three-Dimensional Learning — giving local educators the flexibility to design classroom learning experiences that stimulate students’ interest in science and prepares them for college, careers and citizenship.
  • NBEF has inducted over 100 outstanding New Brunswick High School graduates into the Hall of Distinguished Alumni during our annual awards galas.
  • NBEF established a Speaker’s Bureau that involves New Brunswick High School alumni volunteers who speak at New Brunswick Public School District programs, including career days, assemblies and graduations.
