NBEF PARTNERS WITH WELLS FARGO AND PNC BANK
TO FUND INNOVATIVE TEACHER PROJECTS

With the support of Wells Fargo and PNC Bank, NBEF awarded 20 grants totaling $14,494 to New Brunswick Public School teachers to implement creative and cutting-edge projects and activities for their students. This marks NBEF’s Fifth Annual Innovative Teacher Grant Program, involving 26 teachers, 10 schools, and impacting approximately 2,200 students ranging from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12.

The grant recipients were acknowledged at a public reception held at New Brunswick High School in January. More than 70 persons attended, including teachers, administrators, sponsors, community friends and NBEF Board members.

Since 2008, through this special initiative, NBEF has sought to encourage and sponsor teachers to “think outside of the box,” thus creating new paradigms for learning. The process is competitive and begins with teachers submitting grant proposals that offer novel concepts and innovative strategies, which result in dynamic educational experiences for students. 

Some of NBEF’s Innovative Teacher Grant projects over the past five years include a six-month reading program for communication-impaired children; a SMART Board for elementary school students; a technology workstation for students with special learning needs; books and visits by Marcie Aboff, noted author of children’s publications in math and science for K-5 students; electronic field trips to the Philadelphia Museum for 4^th-8^th grade students; and Moodle software, a web-based interactive content management system for high school students.

NBEF invites you to join us at our Sixth Annual Awards Gala on Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Pines Manor in Edison, New Jersey as we pay tribute to outstanding New Brunswick High School alumni and award over $40,000 in college scholarships.

NBEF awarded $40,000 in College Scholarships

$40,000 in college scholarships was awarded to New Brunswick High School and New Brunswick Health Sciences Technology High School graduates at NBEF’s 5th Annual Gala held on June 10, 2011 at The Pines Manor in Edison, NJ. The NBEF Board of Directors and staff extends appreciation to all of the individual scholarship donors and alumni class contributors for their outstanding support.
