The Richard H. Brown Scholarship Fund offers a $2,500.00 scholarship to a New Brunswick High School graduating senior who will be attending an institution of higher learning in the fall 2016. The scholarship will be awarded to a student based on his/her financial need, academic achievement, leadership, and community service. Furthermore, Richard H. Brown encourages all students in the top 25% of the 2016 graduating class to apply if you are ambitious, highly motivated, and determined to be successful in your career pursuits.

 

The application for the Richard H. Brown Scholarship must be completed and submitted by Monday, May 2, 2016.

 

The recipient of the scholarship will be recognized at the New Brunswick Education Foundation’s (NBEF) Tenth Anniversary Celebration on Friday, June 17, 2016 at The Pines Manor, 2085 Route 27 in Edison, NJ. The actual scholarship award, with a written designation for use, will be forwarded on behalf of the recipient directly to the college or university that he/she will attend.

 

Richard H. Brown is a 1965 graduate of New Brunswick High School. During his senior year at NBHS, he was President of the Student Council, Captain of the Zebra Baseball team, and voted “Most Popular” by his peers. Upon graduating from NBHS, he excelled in college and later soared to extraordinary heights in the business world.

 

From 1998 to 2003, Richard Brown served as Chairman and CEO of Electronic Data Systems (EDS), a global services company specializing in information technology outsourcing, system integration, business transformation and management consulting. Prior to his EDS tenure, Richard Brown served as President and CEO of H&R Block and as the CEO of London-based Cable & Wireless PLC.

 

His 28-year career in the telecommunications industry included executive-level tenures at Ameritech Corp., Illinois Bell Telephone Co. and Sprint. He is currently on DuPont’s Board of Directors and on the Advisory Board of Mitsui and Co. Venture Partners Inc.

 

The Richard H. Brown Scholarship Fund was made possible through a generous $10,000.00 gift donated by Gregory G. Brown, brother of Richard Brown. Gregory is President and CEO of Motorola Inc.
