The E. Ronald Wright, Esq. Memorial Scholarship offers a $1,000.00 scholarship to a deserving New Brunswick High School graduating senior who will be attending an institution of higher learning in the fall 2015. The scholarship will be awarded to a student based on his/her financial need, academic achievement, school leadership, and community service.


The application for the E. Ronald Wright, Esq. Memorial Scholarship must be completed and submitted by Monday, May 2, 2016.


The recipient of the E. Ronald Wright, Esq. Memorial Scholarship will be recognized at the New Brunswick Education Foundation’s (NBEF) Tenth Anniversary Celebration on Friday, June 17, 2016 at The Pines Manor, 2085 Route 27 in Edison, NJ. The actual scholarship award, with a written designation for use, will be forwarded on behalf of the recipient directly to the college or university that he/she will attend.


A 1965 graduate of New Brunswick High School, the late E. Ronald Wright, Esq. owned and operated The Wright Firm, a private law practice based in New Brunswick. For more than 15 years, the firm specialized in personal injury arbitration and alternative dispute resolutions in which he represented plaintiffs, respondents, and resolved matters as a neutral arbitrator. Mr. Wright also handled civil plaintiffs’ representation as well as defense of personal injury insurance claims.  He was  frequently selected as an arbitrator by the American Arbitration Association, served as outside counsel for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation; and was frequently appointed as Condemnation Commissioner for local, county and state governmental matters; and served as a Statewide Foreclosure Mediator.


Mr. Wright presided as Chief Municipal Judge for the City of New Brunswick and for North Brunswick Township. He also served as Associate Municipal Judge for Franklin Township/Millstone Borough and Municipal Judge for the Borough of Bound Brook.


In addition, Mr. Wright served as Judge for the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey’s Civil Commitments and Krol Hearings. He also served as Municipal Prosecutor for the City of New Brunswick and was Staff Counsel to the Middlesex County CETA Program for over 10 years.


Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Wright served as House Counsel with American Broadcasting Companies, Inc. in New York City, where he drafted and reviewed personal service contracts for all on air personalities. He oversaw applications for licensing agreements required by the Federal Communications Commission, prepared replies to editorial comments, provided general advice to the station and network and was the contact with external legal counsel in respect to litigation matters. Mr. Wright also served as a staff attorney with Middlesex County Legal Services Corporation (1973). He served in the United States Army Reserves as a Staff Sergeant assigned to the Judge Advocate’s General Office in Ft. Knox, Kentucky.


Mr. Wright earned a Juris Doctorate from Rutgers-Newark Law School and was admitted to practice before the Bar of the State of New Jersey. He was authorized to appear before the United States Supreme Court and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. He earned a B.A. in Political Science from Waynesburg University in 1969.
