Hundreds gathered at New Brunswick High School on Saturday, July 25th for a Memorial Tribute to William Louis Dunbar (aka “Bar”), who was highly regarded as a community leader, prolific orator, caring and dedicated educator, mentor, counselor and friend to youth. Mr. Dunbar’s passionate instruction and unwavering guidance resulted in thousands of students matriculating to institutions of higher learning and excelling in various fields of endeavor.

It was a heartwarming inspirational production that brimmed with community pride. The performance infused Mr. Dunbar’s extraordinary life story in prose, poetry, oratory and music. Meet & Greet with Professionals from Various Careers

Formed in 2011, the NBEF College Network component offers programs, services and scholarships for New Brunswick High School and New Brunswick Health Sciences Technology High School alumni who are attending colleges, universities and vocational trade institutes. This trailblazing initiative provides students with career development coaching, resume writing assistance, and interview training. In addition, NBEF’s College Network facilitates two special gatherings per year (during students’ school winter/summer breaks), which includes workshops, panel discussions, and networking events.

Though open to all New Brunswick alum, many of the College Network participants are NBEF scholarship recipients. This has enhanced NBEF’s capacity to track their progress and stay involved with their college and career pursuits.
